Day 1AIRPORT / NEGOMBO - WAKKIKALA

Upon your arrival welcome and assistance by our representative and transfer to Negombo – Wakkikala resort check in and refresh at Hotel, afternoon explore the Wakkikala area for some bird watching

Wakkikala – Wakkikala in the mid of marine, coastal, estuarine, mangroves, marshland and manmade habited system. Much of Avifaunal diversity is characteristically wetland. More than 60 spices can be observed here Common Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, Purple Coot, Painted stock, stock billed Kingfisher can be seen around this area.

Day 2NEGOMBO – WAKKIKALA / SINHARAJA

After breakfast leave for Sinharaja (04hours) check into Sinharaja nature resort refresh and relax and afternoon trekking to Sinharaja rain forest to observe lot of bird’s lives in Sinharaja rain forest  

Sinharaja Rain Forest – The UNESCO world Heritage which covers an area of 11,185 hectares of primary and secondary forest, Sinharaja is the best location to see mixed species bird flocks. 40 individual birds are found in the flocks on average which makes this the world’s largest mixed species bird flock. Birding trip to Sinharaja a birdwatcher can see close to 18 to 27 endemic bird species.

Day 4SINHARAJA / UDAWALAWE

After breakfast leave for Udawalawe (02 ½ hours) reach to Udawalawe Hotel check in and refresh at Hotel afternoon Jeep Safari to Udwalawe National Park

Udwawalwe National Park – Uda Walawe National Park lies within the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts. It is largely inhabited by elephants, spotted deer, sambhur, water buffaloes, mongoose, bandicoots, foxes, water monitor lizards, crocodiles, wild boars, toque monkeys, grey langur, leopards and various varieties of snakes, also you could spotted number of birds in Udawalawe National park

After breakfast drive for Kalamatiya bird sanctuary (01 hour drive) there you could view Purple Heron, Brahminy Kite, Shikra Purple Swamphen, Pheasant – tailed Jacana and other common water birds, Pipits & Wagtails

Thereafter proceed to Yala (45min) check in and refresh at Yala Nature resort afternoon Jeep Safari in Yala National Park. Yala is approximately 1259 sq Kms. In extent to located in south eastern corner of the Island Sri Lankan largest and most popular national park where world best place to observe leopards natural habited in the noon time, you can enjoy wild life including Elephants, Bears, wild Bears, Buffalos, Monkeys and many more animals if you lucky also you could see lot of different types of birds

Bundala bird sanctuary where the best place to observe endemic & migrate birds in Sri Lanka Bundala bird sanctuary is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost destinations for birdwatchers, protecting an important area of coastal wetland famous for its abundant aquatic (and other) birdlife. The sanctuary is also home to significant populations of elephants, Marsh & estuarine crocodiles, turtles & other fauna, including the leopard.

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya (04 hours) en route visit enjoy the view of the famous Ella gap, Rawana waterfalls & Haggala Botanical gardens. We ascend from low land the Central Highlands through enchanting scenery & waterfalls.

Some bird watching in Haggala Botanical Garden, The Haggala Botanical Gardens were founded in 1860 by the eminent British botanist Dr.G.H.K Thwaites who was superintendent of the more famous gardens at Peradeniya. The Dull Blue Flycatcher, a Highland bird species that is endemic to Sri Lanka, is probably the star of Haggala. Day 8NUWARA ELIYA / HORTON PLAN / NUWARA ELIYA

Early morning with packed breakfast leave for Horton Plan (01hour drive)

Horton Plan – Perhaps the most awesome and forbidding region in Sri Lanka, located on a high windswept plateau at about 7000 feet elevation. A visit to this plateau is well worth of effect. Day 9NUWARA ELIYA / KANDY

After breakfast leave for Kandy (02 hours drive) Kandy – Nuwara Eliya Road is one of the most scenic roads in Sri Lanka. Driving along a winding ascending road amidst seamless tea plantations covering hills from top to bottom to skirt the road all the way up to the destination interspersed by cascading waterfalls

En route visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden it was pleasure garden in Sinhalese Kings period later converted to Botanical Garden by British, thousands of verities of trees and flowers can be view in this gardens. There are number of birds species can be spotted in this garden. Common Hawk- Cuckoo, Alexandrine Parakeet, Ceylon Small Barbet, Large Cuckoo shrike, Indian Pitta Can be seen here

Reach to Kandy hotel check in and refresh at Kandy hotel afternoon visit Udawattakelle bird sanctuary, vegetation comprise fairly dense forest, mostly plantation and secondary formations. About 80 species of bird have been records here. Emerald Dove, Ceylon Hanging Parrot, Layard’s Parakeet, Black Backed Dwarf Kingfisher, Yellow – fronted Barbet, Ceylon Small Barbet, Crimson – Backed Flame back can be seen in Udawattakelle sanctuary.

Day 10KANDY / SIGIRIYA

After breakfast visit Kandy Temple where enshrined the Buddha’s Tooth relic, this temple built for its protection and veneration within the Royal Palace The Tooth relic is encased in seven caskets one kept inside the other outermost of which has the shape of a Stupa adorned with a large number of or gold ornaments.

Thereafter drive to Sigiriya (02 hours) check in and refresh at Sigiriya Hotel afternoon climb Sigiriya rock fortress The Lion Rock Citadel, Sigiriya was the Royal Citadel of King Kasayapa who ruled in The 05th Century A.D. Moats, Terrace Gardens, water Gardens, Fountain Garden Boulder Gardens & Stone Stairways and the beautiful ancient frescos of heavenly maidens in a pocket of the rock, on the top of rock are ruins of the palace & two intact man – made pools of water

Day 11SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / SIGIRIYA

After breakfast bird watching in Sigiriya sanctuary, Grey-bellied Cuckoo, ‘Square-tailed’ Drongo-cuckoo, Indian Cuckoo, Crested Tree swift, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Coppersmith Barbet, Indian Pitta, Ceylon Wood shrike, Large Cuckoo shrike, Black-headed Cuckoo shrike, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Ceylon Grey Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Ceylon Small Barbet, White-browed Fantail, Tawny-bellied Babbler, Orange-headed Thrush, Jungle Prinia, White-rumped Shama, Purple Sunbird, Thick-billed Flower pecker can be viewed in Sigiriya Sanctuary.

Afternoon drive to Polonnaruwa (01 ½ hour’s drive) The ancient city of Polonnaruwa rose to fame as the new capita after decline of Anuradhapura (11th – 13th Century)

Its period of greatness was from tenth of 12th Centuries AD. The entire landscape

of the region is punctuated by huge man – made reservoirs, veritable inland seas, the most famous of which is the Prakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbor. The monuments of this medieval city are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka’s past, see the Royal Palace complex the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite – a highlight of ancient Sri Lanka rock carving.

Day 12SIGIRIYA / NEGOMBO

After breakfast leave for Negombo (04 hours) via Kurunegala en route visit Dambulla Cave Temple, Dambulla is a magnificent rock temple consists of 5 caves, on a hill 340 m high, containing 150 serene statues of Buddha, numerous carvings & murals. The fascinating & memorable site was founded by King Valagambahu during the 1st century BC in gratitude for the shelter he found in the caves during an invasion by marauding Dravidians from southern India.
