DEPOSIT PAYMENT:

A non-refundable deposit of AUD $500 and a completed booking form must be provided to book a tour. For some tours, a progress payment will be required around 9 months before departure. The final balance is due 30 days before departure.

CANCELLATION CHARGES:

  • If canceled 30 days or more prior to arrival, any payments made prior to this date will be reimbursed (less the Deposit payment and any bank charges).
  • If canceled between 21 to 30 days (inclusive) prior to arrival, 50% of the total booking value will be charged.
  • If canceled 21 days or less prior to arrival, 100% of the total booking value will be charged.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Yala National Park undergoes annual maintenance during September and October as directed by local authorities. The exact closure dates are typically confirmed 1–2 months in advance. If Yala (Block 1) is unavailable during your tour, you’ll enjoy an alternative safari in either Udawalawe National Park or Yala (Block 5) — both offering equally thrilling wildlife experiences and excellent chances to spot Sri Lanka’s iconic animals.

TRAIN TRAVEL INFO:

Train tickets in Sri Lanka can only be reserved 30 days in advance due to a manual booking system. While we aim for 1st or 2nd class (both basic but air-conditioned), availability can be limited — sometimes 3rd class without A/C may be the only option. If the train is fully booked.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Arrival/Colombo

Distance:  10 Km | Travel Time: 0.5 Hrs

Meet on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport by Ddot travel representative and drive to the Hotel. Welcome, delicious Dinner at the Hotel. Tour briefing from the Tour leader or Ddot travel representative.

Negombo is a coastal city located on the west coast of Sri Lanka, about 37 kilometers (23 miles) north of Colombo, the capital city. It's a major city in the Western Province and a popular destination for both local and international travelers. One of our key stops will be the Negombo Fish Market — A Thriving Fishing Culture. Fishing boats begin to make their way to the beach laden with that morning’s catch. Shrimps, crabs, and lobsters are hunted at the famous Negombo Lagoon, while fresh fish is hauled in from the waves of the Indian Ocean.

Day 02 Negombo / Wilpattu

Distance: 120 Kms | Travel Time: 2-3 Hrs

After enjoying breakfast, your tour leader will give a short briefing on the day ahead. Before we journey to Sri Lanka's largest and oldest game reserve. We’ll spend the morning uncovering the highlights of Negombo.

Experience Sri Lanka’s most elusive wildlife in the vast seclusion of Wilpattu National Park. Occupying a vast swathe of land bordering the copper-sand beaches of the north west coast, the ancient ruins of the Cultural Triangle and the Northern Province, this is Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest game reserve. Home to myriad endemic species, the park fosters sensational bird life, Asian Elephants, Sri Lankan Leopards, and Sri Lankan Sloth Bears.

Check in to the hotel and at 03.00 PM enjoy the remarkable game drive at  Wilpattu National Park.

After visiting, you will be transferred to the hotel, where the rest of the evening is yours to relax or explore at your own pace.

Day 03 Wilpattu / Mannar

Distance: 180 Km | Travel Time: 3.5 Hrs

After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Mannar to the Historical Mannar Island.

The quiet white-sand beaches, wild donkeys, and historic attractions of Mannar are located away from most travellers’ holiday itineraries in Sri Lanka. Although it may be off the beaten path, Mannar holds a variety of attractions and things to do for explorers with a taste for adventure. From admiring the Baobab Tree to visiting the Mannar Fort or the Giant’s Tank, come discover the hidden treasures of Mannar in Sri Lanka.

On completion, proceed to Jaffna.

Jaffna is situated on the northern tip of Sri Lanka and has a predominantly Tamil population, and is considered the cultural capital of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The locals of Jaffna are indeed wonderful and friendly people, and making a trip to this beautiful part of Sri Lanka should be a priority on anyone’s travel plan. Now peace is back, visitors can freely explore this destination by visiting the Nallur Kovil, the Jaffna Fort, the Dutch Fort, the Jaffna market, and other historical sites.

Day 04 Jaffna

Explore the northern street of Sri Lanka and the south-west of Jaffna.

Your half-day trip to Delft Island begins at Kurikadduwan harbour, about an hour south-west of Jaffna. After a 45-minute bumpy, enclosed ferry ride, you arrive on the mysterious, isolated, outlying coral and limestone island. Let your guide take you through some fascinating tales, introducing you to the towering Baobab trees, stunning wild horses & the Old Dutch Fortress. Conclude your journey with a nice local lunch offered by your local host to catch the ferry back to Jaffna. Hours offer a peaceful and rewarding window into the park’s rich biodiversity.

Day 05 Jaffna/ Anuradhapura

Distance: 200 Km | Travel Time: 3-4 Hrs

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Anuradhapura. Check in and in the evening visit Mihintale Temple.

Mihintale, the “Cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura. It is believed to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk “Mahinda”, son of Asoka, Emperor of India, and King Devanampiyatissa, which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. The climb to Mihintale is not strenuous – it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes through a magnificent, wide, ancient stone stairway.

Day 06 Anuradhapura/ Dambulla

Distance: 80 Km | Travel Time: 1.5 Hrs

After breakfast, visit the Ancient Kingdom of Anuradhapura.

Proceed to Anuradhapura and visit the Ancient Kingdom of Anuradhapura - The first capital of Sri Lanka from the 04th Century B.C. to the end of the 10th Century A.D. Anuradhapura consists of more than a dozen archeological sites. The most significant sites are the 3 largest man-made stupas in Sri Lanka, which are the second largest man-made structures in the world after the pyramids of Egypt. Then, Sri Maha Bodhi, a Sacred Bo Tree which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained Enlightenment.

Check out the hotel and proceed to Dambulla. At 04.00 PM, visit Dambulla Cave Temple.

On completion, proceed to Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Cave Temple - The Dambulla Cave Temple is the largest and best-preserved rock cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, towering 160 m over the surrounding plains with more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area filled with ancient statues and paintings related to and depicting Lord Buddha and his life. The climb from the base is not difficult and can be done at a leisurely pace.

Return to your hotel in Dambulla and enjoy the rest of the evening at your own pace.

Day 07 Dambulla/ Sigiriya / Dambulla

Distance: 20 Km | Travel Time: 0.5 Hrs

Rise early at 05.30 am with a packed breakfast and proceed to Sigiriya Rock Fortress for an unforgettable Sunrise. Sigiriya Rock Fortress - The 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa and a World Heritage Site, Sigiriya not only boasts of ancient Sri Lankan engineering & urban planning supremacy but also claims to be one of the finest monuments of art & culture. Step through the gigantic 'Lion Paws' overlooking the symmetrical royal gardens below to comprehend the absolute splendor that once dominated this rock fortress. Surrounded by ramparts & moats, the Lion Rock resembles the mythological 'City of Gods' coated by frescoes that relate to Gupta style paintings found in Ajanta caves of India.

Visit a typical Sri Lankan village at 11.00 AM and enjoy a cookery demonstration with traditional, authentic Sri Lankan lunch. - Hiriwadunna is all about Sri Lankan village life. In other words, it is a tale garnished with chirps of birds, fishermen carrying their nets and rods praying for a fine catch, as well as an occasional crocodile basking on the shore of the lake. Do not have doubts about ample birdlife and butterflies as blessing visitors with the ‘soft winged’ is a part of the Hiriwadunna schedule. Enjoy a bullock cart ride and a catamaran ride through the rural environment, followed by an authentic traditional lunch with freshly picked vegetables and flavourful ingredients.

Day 08 Dambulla/ Gal Oya

Distance: 200 Km | Travel Time: 3 – 4 Hrs

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Gal Oya.

Once you arrive, take part in a walk of discovery with the chief veddah

Gal Oya neighbours one of the last remaining communities of the Veddha – the forest-dwelling, indigenous people of Sri Lanka. We can invite the village Chief to take you on a walk through the jungles of his ancestors. Discover and learn about local nature as he brings the forest alive, explaining his tribe’s use of medicinal plants, ancient hunting grounds, and cave dwellings. It’s a fascinating insight into how the hunter-gatherers lived in the jungles of Gal Oya.

Day 09 Gal Oya

With a packed breakfast at 06.00 AM, proceed to The Senanyake Reservoir.

The Senanyake Reservoir – the largest body of water of its kind in Sri Lanka and home to huge herds of wild elephants – is incandescent with color at sunset. Sharp ribbons of shell-pink and king-coconut-orange shift seamlessly from sky to water. In the cooler hours before the sun goes down, Asia’s gentle giants are on the move, and an onlooker passing by boat might chance a peek at them as they shuffle out of the shade of the trees and down towards the banks of the water.

At 03.00 PM, enjoy a game drive at Gal Oya National Park.

Gal Oya National Park is one of Sri Lanka’s undiscovered natural treasures. Jeep ride into the forgotten Nilgala section of the park, once the protectorate of ancient royalty for the abundant medicinal plants and endemic birdlife unique to this ecosystem. Although shy and sometimes hard to spot, the park hosts most of the animals found on the island. Some of the more likely species to look out for include herds of elephants, four species of deer, as well as many bird species.

Day 10 Gal Oya/ Ella

Distance: 160 Km | Travel Time: 3 – 4 Hrs

After breakfast, proceed to Ella. En route, visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge and observe the Ravana Falls.

The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the ‘Bridge in the Sky’, is 300 feet in length, 25 feet in width, and 80-100 feet in height. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The surrounding area has seen a steady increase in tourism due to the bridge’s architectural ingenuity and the profuse greenery in the nearby hillsides.

Ravana Falls is named after the King Ravana, who, according to traditional folklore, is believed to have ruled Sri Lanka. It is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka and currently ranks as one of the widest waterfalls in the country. It is best visited during the local wet season when the water is said to resemble an Areca flower with withering petals. This is situated at the 12-13thmilepost of Ella Wellawaya road.

Day 11 Ella/ Nanu Oya/ Kandy

Distance: 130 Km | Travel Time: 3 – 4 Hrs

With a packed breakfast, we set off from the Railway Station at 06.15 am, where a scenic train ride awaits. Wind through the misty mountains and emerald tea country of Nuwara Eliya — this is one of the most breathtaking rail journeys in the world, with rolling hills, waterfalls, and endless greenery unfolding at every turn.

Upon arrival at Nanu Oya Station, proceed to Kandy. En route, dive into Sri Lanka’s world-famous tea culture with a visit to a working tea plantation and factory. - In over one hundred and fifty years, the name Ceylon had become synonymous with the world’s finest tea. From the plantation to an international brand, witness the process that put Sri Lanka on the world map. Your guide will help you to pick out the perfect tea factory based on your route, so you can enjoy a slightly more interactive experience.

Check in and at 04.30 pm enjoy a Kandyan Cultural Show and visit to Temple of the Tooth.

Day 12 Kandy

After breakfast, proceed to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens and visit Ambuluwawa Tower.

The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens is the largest of the botanical gardens of Sri Lanka and the finest of its kind in Asia. In the Mediterranean climate of Kandy, the gateway to the central highlands, the Gardens lie at an elevation of 460 meters above sea level, tightly bounded on three sides by the loop of the River Mahaweli (Great Sandy River), Sri Lanka’s largest river.

The Ambuluwawa Tower is a unique and impressive tower located in the city of Gampola. The seven levels of the tower represent different aspects of Sri Lankan culture and history, including a garden, a children's play area, a library, a meditation center, a viewing platform, a restaurant, and a Buddhist temple. The tower is 48 meters tall and is built on seven levels, each with its own unique feature. One of the most unique features of the tower is the spiral staircase that leads to the top, which is adorned with colorful murals depicting the history and culture of Sri Lanka.

After visiting, return to Kandy and explore the city and visit the Gem Museum.
