Bentota

Situated in the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, Bentota is a well-known tourist town. The lagoon as well as the parallel beach, “Paradise island” are top attractions in the area. The coastline itself is very much covered in different types of accommodation options. The dive site “Canoe Rock” is rich in corals. Bentota river empties in to the Indian Ocean here, effectively dividing the southern and western provinces. Close by, the “Lunuganga” estate is the house and garden of famous architect Geoffrey Bawa, and a few kilometers away is his brother, Bevis’s “Brief Garden”. Both these, and the ancient Galapota and Aluthgama temples warrant a visit while in Bentota.
