Ella is a small, one-of-a-kind town in Sri Lanka’s Hill country situated in the Badulla district. It has recently gained momentum with ancient king, Ravana, related destinations, and Sri Lanka’s first dual zip-line adventure, “Flying Ravana”. There are a few popular hangout stations offering mouth-watering food made according to your wish. Apart from the lush greenery around, multicoloured blooming flowers, scenic train ride views and the activities galore, Ella is also quite popular for the “Nine Arches Bridge” or the “bridge in the sky”. Located between Ella and Demodara railway stations, this architectural ingenuity is built with cement and stone bricks, but no steel. The story goes that due to the start of the Great War, builders were left with no other option. Today it’s such a mystical sight to behold; photographers and laypeople alike flock to take pictures when the white clouds hang low in the valley and the blue train passes by.
