Literally meaning “rock bay” and “green-algae-bay” in Tamil, Kalkudah and Pasikuda are two dazzling beaches of never-ending soft white sand in the East end of Sri Lanka. Kalkudah, relatively less-busy, is a tourists’ dream come true as they can have the whole four kilometers of it all to themselves most of the time. Pasikuda, a postcard-perfect curvy bay with shallow sparkling blue waters is your dream-destination; it is a stretch about two kilometers and has that safe swimming appeal. Rebuilt with government patronage, the beaches are now occupied with tastefully designed luxury accommodation. Nevertheless the calm and quiet feeling of being void of human touch, still lingers there.
