A primary tropical rainforest in Sri Lanka, Sinharaja houses more than 50% endemic plant and animal species. Wildlife of immense diversity – mammals, birds, reptiles, butterflies, amphibians, and insects – all roam around in Sinharaja as one. You are lucky enough to witness these rare species any time of the year during your visit. Sinharaja is a UNESCO declared world heritage and covers a vast area of 11,185 hectares of primary and secondary forest. It is also one of the exceptional forests to host mixed species bird flocks. 40 individual bird species are found in a single flock on average which makes this the world’s largest mixed species bird flock. Sinharaja is sadly Sri Lanka’s last viable primary tropical rainforest.
