Shopping in Sri Lanka is a delightful experience. From high-end shopping malls to street shopping, there are many places you can visit to buy whatever you want. Prices are quite cheap, if not affordable. State-owned “Laksala” offers everything from batiks and gems to brass items and reed hats. Don’t forget the Pettah floating market and Noritake ceramic outlet. More upscale places such as the Majestic City, Odel, House of Fashions, Crescat Boulevard and the recent additions like the One Galle Face mall, and Colombo City Centre – all in Colombo – and Kandy City Centre in Kandy will provide you with air conditioned comfort to shop at your ease. Alternatively, while you are visiting the attractions, there will be so many vendors trying to sell the stuff they make. If you get the opportunity to visit their workshops – batiks in Galle, masks in Ambalangoda, brass in Kotmale etc. – you can purchase these products from the manufacturers themselves who shed their sweat and blood for it.
