Itinerary

Day 1 AIRPORT / NEGOMBO

Upon arrival assist and welcome by our representative and transfer to Negombo hotel, afternoon leisure at Negombo Beach

Negombo – A characteristic fishing town 6Kms from the international airport, Negombo has a fascinating and picturesque beachfront. The town has several buildings dating back to the Dutch & Portuguese Colonial days. enjoy some nice sea foods lobsters, crabs, prawns and etc.

Day 2NEGOMBO / HALAWATHA / DAMBULLA

After breakfast leave for Chilaw (02 hours) visit Munneswaram temple in Chilaw it is believed that Munneswaram predates the Ramayana. Lord Rama after his victorious battle left for Bramhaasthi dosham as he had killed King Ravana who was Brahmin. Whilst passing over the area Rama noticed that the ‘’ Brahmaasthi Dosham’’ was not following him. He stops the Vimana at this juncture and asks God shiva for a remedy. Thereafter proceed to Manaveri temple, it is the first Lingam installed and prayed by Lord Rama and till date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan. Rameshwaram is the only other lingam in the world named after Lord Rama.

Thereafter drive to Dambulla via Kurunegala (02 hours) en route may visit Dambulla cave Temple in Dambulla

Proceed to Dambulla enroute may visit Dambulla Cave Temple – Dambulla is a magnificent rock temple consists of 5 caves, on a hill 340 m high, containing 150 serene statues of Buddha, numerous carvings & murals. The fascinating & memorable site was founded by King Valagambahu during the 1st century BC in gratitude for the shelter he found in the caves during an invasion by marauding Dravidians from southern India.

Day 3DAMBULLA / SIGIRIYA / KANDY

After breakfast climb Sigiriya rock Fortress (20min drive) Lion Rock Citadel, Sigiriya was the Royal Citadel of King Kasayapa who ruled in the 05th Century A.D. Moats, however there were enough stories that King Rawana built His palace top of rock 5000 year back

Thereafter proceed to Kandy (02 hours) en route visit spice garden at Matale which grows spices and herbs used for Sri Lankan cuisine and medication. Spices of Sri Lanka attracted the early sea-faring merchants who made the long voyages to purchase this precious merchandise

Evening some sightseeing in Kandy visit Upper Lake drive, stopping at market square and walk around bazaars and markets visit Anglican Cathedral and Hindu Temple visit sacred Tooth relic Temple where enshrined the Buddha’s Tooth relic

Day 4KANDY / MAHIYANGAYA / KANDY

After breakfast drive to Mahiyanganaya (02 hours) visit Gurulupotha (The area within capital city of King Ravana) Weragantota mean’s a place of aircraft landing in Sinhala language is believed to be the first place where Sita Devi was brought into Lanka in King Ravana’ s Vimana. These Jungles are the place where the city of Lankapura once stood. The city had a beautiful palace for Queen Mandothari surrounded by water falls, streams and varieties of flora & fauna. Sitadevi was kept in this palace until she was moved to Ashoka Vatika.

The remains that are found are the remnants of later civilizations, this place is now called Sita Kotuwa which means ‘Sita Fort’ and got its name because of Sita Devi Stayed here. There was an Aircraft repair in the capital city which called Guruthopola.

Day 5KANDY / PUSSELLAWA / RAMBODA / NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast drive to Nuwara Eliya (02 hours drive) en route stop of Pussellawa Hills. The summit of the Hill overlooking the estate in Pussellawa is the place where Lord Hanuman first set his foot on Lanka. These hills stand tall in between King Ravana’s capital city and Ashoka Vatika. The barren land here is believed to be the route in which King Ravana took Sita Devi from his capital city Lankapura to Ashoka Vatika which was a paradise on earth.

Thereafter proceed to Ramboda (30min drive) visit Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple Ramboda, the

Ramboda area is believed to be an area where Rama’s forces were gathered against Ravana. Ram Padai means Rama’s Force. The Hills of Ramboda also believed where hanuman was searching for Sita Devi. The Chinmaya mission of Sri Lanka has built an Anjaeyar temple with Hanuman as the presiding deity. This temple is called Sri Baktha Hanuman temple and the image of Lord Hanuman here is 16 Feet tall

The Service times at the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple is between 07.00am to 12.00 noon and Again 03.30 to 06.30 P.M

Evening reach to Nuwara Eliya and check into hotel and relax at the hotel

Day 6NUWARA ELIYA / SITA ELIYA / HAKKAGALA / NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast proceed to Sita Eliya, visit Sita Amman Kovil in Sita Eliya, the stream that runs from the hill catered to the needs of Sita Devi during her stay at Ashoka Vatika. She is said to have bathed in this stream, now there is temple for Lord Rama, Sita Devi, Luxshmana and Hanuman by the side of this stream. It is interesting to note that foot prints akin to Lord Hanuman’s are found by this river and some are of small size and some are large size which tells us of the immense powers of hanuman transforming himself into any size

Thereafter proceed to visit Haggla Gardens where believe to be King Ravana use a pleasure gardens (27Ha) were established in 1860 as an experimental Cinchona plantation from which the anti malarial drug quinine is derived. Subsequently the gardens were used for experiments in acclimatizing temperate-zone plants to life in tropics. Today Hakgala’s gardens of roses, shrubs, ferns & montane woodland are delightfully located in salubrious environment

Return to Nuwara Eliya walk round through the town of Nuwara Eliya observing the well-maintained buildings of colonial Architecture. Busy market, Lake Gregory, golf course, race course, vegetable cultivation, tea plantations

Day 7NUWARA ELIYA / COLOMBO

Day 8COLOMBO / KALANIYA / COLOMBO

After breakfast drive to Kelaniya (30 min drive) to visit Kelaniya Temple

Kelaniya – The closest site to Colombo connected to the Ramayana, after King Ravana’s death Vibeeshana was coroneted as King of Lanka by Lakshmana at Kelaniya. There are murals enshrined outside the Buddhist temple depicting the crowning of Vibeeshana. The Kelani River is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana and Vibeeshana palace was said to be on the banks of this river.

Thereafter return to Colombo city, sightseeing & shopping in Colombo city visit BMICH, Independence square, Town Hall, Buddhist temple, old parliament, Galle Face Green and residential area Shopping in Majestic City shopping complex, House of Fashion and the ODEL Unlimited Dress Boutique, also visit the Ceramic cooperation show room for Noritake shopping
